Motivation can be understood as tool which when used diligently results in achievement of organization goals. Motivation is the very basis of realizing one’s motives but are based on willing and effective actions. Higher responsibilities, recognition of good work and monetary rewards are always work as motivation factors and lead to realization of organization goals. Management studies the needs, desires and aspirations of its people and tries to find ways to satisfy these needs desire and aspirations which may be monetary or socio-psychological satisfaction of desires and aspiration leads to meaningful motivation.
Difference Between Positive and Negative Motivation:
Positive motivation is based on influencing the behaviour through recognition and appreciation of the efforts of employees.
Negative motivation is born out of fear of loosing the job, if they are reprimanded or cautioned or warned over the time, negative motivation has almost the same effect as that of positive motivation. Positive-motivation is based on interest being taken into the issues which concern the employees and removing those concerns have a positive effect on the employee and improve the productivity. Negative motivation is based on punishment, fear of lay off, it does motivate, but also effects the efficiency and productivity. Positive and negative motivation are equally used by the management.
