Sadh Sangat is the holy gathering without which no Sikh worship is complete. It is authorized to take any decision related to issues of community concern. It remain binding upon everyone. Any person deemed as a violator of morality can be dealt with punishment. Maharaja Ranjit Singh had received punishment from the Sadh Sangat in the form of cane blows for moral impropriety.

The religious orientation impacts the kind of economic orientation. Sikhs have been considered as compulsive do gooders in the face of adversity. This attitude is a result of the long periods of sufferings and persecution in the past. Their institutions such as Langar and Sangat exhibits their secular ideology and egalitaritian attitude. Their practical approach in daily religious routine gives them the kind of pragmatism required for business pursuit. Their achievement orientation is further conducive to business and establishing themselves with economic opportunities.
